Sculptures Projects

I'm currently auditing sculpture classes at UWLAX this fall, and it's been a game-changer for my art. It's taught me the value of process—how every step matters—while also pushing me to get more creative/encouraging me to get more inventive and break free from traditional approaches.

WIP "Red Amazon Piranha (Fish)" - 2 Parts Plaster Molds and Slip casting

The process involves creating 2-part reusable plaster molds to later cast clay slip. The focus is on developing a deep understanding of clay moisture levels, which affect its texture and surface impression from soft to hard states. While the final product is a ceramic cast, the true artistry lies in carefully engineering the mold. Boxing structures made from materials like wood, foamboard, or thin metal/plastic are used to contain the liquid plaster as it sets.
