Hello! Olá!
I'm Sandra, an artist into painting, sculpture, and photography.
About Me
I’m originally from Brazil and have been living in the USA for almost a decade. I studied painting at the Art Students League (ASL) in New York under Sharon Sprung, where I was introduced to classical European portraiture, which deepened my appreciation for arts.
My background is in banking-tech, but I began painting several years ago as a way to relieve stress, and it quickly opened up a whole new world for me. Through art, I discovered a side of myself I never knew existed. Along with my passion for painting, I’ve always loved sports. I’m a former professional volleyball player in Brazil and now continue to compete as a master athlete in Open and National events.
In addition to painting, I’ve recently expanded my artistic practice to sculpture as part of my studies at UWLAX (I'm audit sculpture student). I’m excited to explore new materials and techniques in sculpture, which I believe complements and enhances my work in painting and drawing.
I’m also a strong advocate for gender equality. I founded the RedLips WIAS Project (Women In Arts + Sports), which supports and promotes women artists and athletes. I hope you enjoy the curated work I have for you through: The Redlips
Thank you/Obrigada!
S. Albers
Artwork Background
My recently artworks include commissions of RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsburg), 2024 Olympic poster/t-shirts, and bones Illustrations for a medical book. These artworks are part of my initial paintings, as outsider and self taught artist, the paintings are more colorful. I used acrylic as my main media. Most recently I've been working on classic painting from life portraiture using oil, that is part of my training at ASL (The Art Students League) and other workshops I've participated.

Why Women In Arts & Sports?
Equal footing - Growing up in a culture where sexism and abuse against women were normalized, I saw firsthand how these issues are often accepted and suppressed. As I grew older, I realized that gender discrimination persists globally, including in developed nations and across various fields like sports and the arts. Women athletes and artists have frequently been overlooked, with their contributions often undervalued compared to their male counterparts. To break these cycles of discrimination, we need to speak out, educate ourselves and others, and invest in women’s achievements.
I invite you to help promote gender equality by supporting female artists and athletes. Buy and promote works by women artists, and when visiting museums or galleries, seek out and learn about their pieces. Similarly, follow and watch women’s sports events to show your support and help raise their profile.
